MOBIL-BERTH NO. 7 AT PULAU PESEK

The berth consists of a 48m x 22m main deck resting on steel piles, 2 breasting dolphins and 6 mooring dolphins connected by steel walkways. The main deck is connected to the shore by a concrete approach road 92m x 4.6m wide flanked by a steel pipe rack.

Main Buildable Features
  1. The design of berth #7 capitalised on large prefabricated modular units which minimised on-site joints and concreting. The major structural elements, including piles, pilecaps, concrete deck structure and the concrete approach road were designed for maximum prefabricated. In addition, flat plate design was adopted for the prefabricated slabs, thus speeded up the construction process further by eliminating the beams.
  2. Prefabrication was also adopted in the supporting structures for the mechanical and electrical systems. The bulk of the M&E works in the prefabricated steel hose structure were pre-installed. The concrete intake chamber for fire pumps, steel walkways and pipe racks were also designed to be installed in large completed modules.
The rapid construction process for this project demonstrates the effectiveness of integrating both structural and M&E components by large modular prefabrication in speeding up the on site construction process.
